Happy New Year!

To ring in the new year, I thought it would be cool to create a 2013 in review. Because if I'm honest, it all feels like so long ago and I've probably forgotten half of it. So here is my 2013 in review:

- submitted university applications
- got my G2
- took guitar lessons
- got accepted to 3 universities
- got rejected by one university
- went on a cruise
- bought a new lens for my camera
- graduated high school with honours
- worked at FCC for the summer
- got a laptop
- started university
- saw Justin Bieber's star in Stratford
- turned 18
- became obsessed with tumblr
- folded 87 paper cranes
- improved my guitar skills
- got a new phone
- surprised my BFFLAAT at the train station
- made 3 new friends (and other acquaintances)
- created a gif for the first time
- took my fangirling to a whole new level
- visited my BFFLAAT in Toronto
- saw Catching Fire in ULTRAVAX
- made my first ever animation
- decorated my house for christmas all by myself
- finished term 1 of year 1 of university
- made 14 glitter jars
- started spontaneous dancing
- travelled to Ottawa
- made 226 blog posts
- made 2.5 quilts
- read 45 books
- baked 1500+ cookies (at camp while I was working in the kitchen, and at home. Technically I didn't bake each cookie at camp myself, but it sure felt like it.)

I'm sure I've forgotten lots of things. But this is a lot!

Yesterday...

I was going to post yesterday, honestly! But then it was dinner time, and then other people were using the computer after that.  ...And also I'm reading Angels & Demons by Dan Brown right now and it is sooooooooooooo good.  I love the Robert Langdon series (so far, at least).  It has everything I like: Europe, art, art history, mystery and some super modern science.  Really, what more could you want? I highly suggest these books if you're looking for something to read.  Some people don't like them because it becomes a bit touchy with regards to Christianity and who created the universe etc.  This is a perfect example of when you shouldn't judge something by its reviews (DAD!!!).  Another unproductive afternoon for me.  I'm going to see THE HUNGER GAMES again tonight.  Normally I wouldn't see a movie twice in the theaters but THE HUNGER GAMES are just so awesome, and a friend payed for me to go the first time so it's like I'm only seeing it once (financially).  But really I'm going again because my brother just finished reading the book and so he wants to go see the movie now.  I got a mini toothpaste yesterday from a friend (not the one I was wanting to know about, but a gift nonetheless).  It's really mini. Like, maybe 3cm long.  Maybe.  It would probably last you a day, once in the morning and once at night.  But (because of my obsession with oddly-sized objects), I love it.  Song of the day is Boyfriend - Justin Bieber sung by Chester See and Andy Lange.  I love this version way better than Justin Bieber's version

For those of you that have read The Hunger Games:
Peeta: Look at this bread; Isn't it neat? Wouldn't you think my collection's complete? Wouldn't you think I'm the boy, the boy who has every bread? Look at this loaf. Flavors untold. How many flours can one loaf hold? Looking around here you'd think, "Sure, he bakes everything." I've got wheat-bread and biscuits aplenty. I've got cornbread, and crumpets galore! You want bagels? I've got twenty! But who cares? No big deal...I WANT MOREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

THE HUNGER GAMES (not actually, but yea)

That's Myra in the front shaking hands.  The baby in the back is just the sheet folded to look like a baby.
Due to the excitement of THE HUNGER GAMES, I forgot to tell you about the play that I went to see on Thursday.  Based on the true story of Myra Bennett, Tempting Providence follows a nurse who has just moved to Newfoundland from England after the war.  She came upon hearing that medical help was needed.  The play started running 10 years ago (you think it would get tired...ha ha ha, get it?), and the same actor has played Myra from the beginning.  The two men (there are only 4 actors) have been with it for 9 out of 10 years.  The other girl has only been with them for a year.  Another interesting point is that the play is preformed with 6 props: 4 chairs, a table and a sheet.  Originally it was just done with the chairs and the table, but the sheet was added in there at some point.  It is amazing to watch the actors manipulate the objects into whatever they need their surroundings to be, whether it be a cradle with a baby or a garden with a fence.  Also, the actors never leave the stage.  There is a carpet that everything happens on.  If their character isn't needed (all of them except for Myra play multiple characters) they just stand at the edge of the carpet.  I think I will most likely just forget about this play due to THE HUNGER GAMES.  My friend went to go see THE HUNGER GAMES over the weekend, so I finally had somebody to talk about it with who wasn't there with me.  Another one of my friends is planning on seeing THE HUNGER GAMES tomorrow, so I will be able to talk to her about THE HUNGER GAMES then as well.  Saying THE HUNGER GAMES is so much fun. :)  Most likely thing to happen though is that THE HUNGER GAMES will fade into the background after a few weeks.  Maybe THE HUNGER GAMES will come back again when the DVD comes out, but other than that, you probably won't hear about THE HUNGER GAMES until November of next year.  That's when CATCHING FIRE, the sequel to THE HUNGER GAMES, comes out.

Hunger Games

So like I said yesterday, The Huger Games movie was AMAZING!!!  The casting was perfect.  One of my favourite characters is Cinna.  Also Rue, those were both cast perfectly.  Well worth going to see at midnight.  It's cool to think that nobody has seen it before you.  Although, that's not what I was thinking Friday during school. Before every class I got a wave of energy (when I say energy, not as in hyper, but as in enough to make it to my next class) but by half way through the class I would crash.  I had a headache (not surprisingly).  The hardest part though was in T and T, we were watching a (boring, uneventful, droning on) movie about Europe, and I so badly wanted to fall asleep.  I almost did, at one point. My BFFLAAT (who has T and T with me) was complaining about being tired, and I was like, don't even go there, because she didn't show up at school for the morning, she got to sleep in whereas I had 4 hours of sleep.  We were kind of loud so our T and T teacher asked why we were so tired, so we told him we went to the Hunger Games midnight showing.  Before I left T and T, my teacher looked at me very seriously (which means he's really serious, because he is a funny, easy-going guy) and Said, "Heather, get some sleep." Clearly I looked just as tired as I felt.  But, again, totally worth it! I went to sewing this morning, all ready to finish my quilt only to realize once I got there that I had forgotten my quilt at home :( I was a little pissed off at myself.  So I made donuts instead.  Not real donuts, I sewed them.  They're pretty cool.
These aren't the ones I made, but it's the same thing basically.  I didn't sew the little beads on, instead I used fabric paint to accessorize my donuts.  Wow, you don't hear that every day, accessorize my donuts. :)

Hunger Games

Why does it have to be so nice out? Don't get me wrong, I love this nice weather.  The problem is is that it's probably not going to stay.  It's most likely going to get cold again.  It's getting everybody excited just to disappoint them.  If it were to stay like this honestly I'd be a little scared that it's getting this warm this early (you know, with global warming and all that).  I finished my homework once I got home from school, so I've had the evening to my self.  Even better, everybody else has something going on so I get the house to myself as well.  I made a few hemp bracelets, getting myself ready for camp! (That's one of the main things girls to during their free time at camp: make bracelets).  They are pretty impressive, if I do say so myself.  Simple, but they look pretty and they're the kind you see in stores that you could pay $2 for.  I also did some reading.  I've paused reading my other book to reread The Hunger Games before I go see the MIDNIGHT PREMIERE!!! I've only done something like this once before, the release of Breaking Dawn. But I only went because it was part of one of my friends birthday party.  (ok, I admit, I was pretty excited about it.)  Song of the day (wow, it's been awhile...) is Not Meant to Be - Theory of A Deadman.  (I'm too lazy to link it).
Now before you accuse me of being inappropriate, take a closer look.  For those of you who don't know, the man holding the poster is Josh Hutcherson, the actor playing Peeta in The Hunger Games movie.  Peeta is in love with Katniss in the books.  So you know how sometimes people will combine the names of people going out (like Zanessa - Zac Effron and Vanessa Hudgens).  In this case, I think I would of gone with Katneta, but to each their own.  :D

Posting

This is not going to be a long post - I just felt bad after only posting 18 times out of a possible 31.  So I figured I should post.  I bought Christina Perri's lovestrong album today, listening to it right now.  I should probably go to bed soon, I'm babysitting tomorrow and I'm sure it will be after midnight when the parents get back.  I'd better get a good pay.  My parents are having a few friends over to celebrate and I'm gonna miss all the food they are making right now.  :(  oh well.  The song of the day is Safe & Sound - Taylor Swift feat. The Civil Wars.  Its one of the first songs to be released that's going to be on the Hunger Games Soundtrack. So excited!
Tip for anybody writing an essay that has to be a certain length that you think will be hard to achieve if it needs to be double spaced: don't double space it at first, then double space it and bada-boom, bada-bing! You have a lot more than you thought you did! (this happened to me today).

This is a quote from DW, the red writing is the Doctor, and the blue writing is Idris, the "spirit" of the TARDIS in a human body.  It probably doesn't make sense to you, but I just love it!

I Forgot

Not even a week in and I forgot to post.  I don't feel too bad though, my BFFLAAT hardly remembers to post every day.  If I had remembered to post yesterday, I would've said something like this:  Union Burger was awesome!!!! It was actually pretty good.  We went to the mall afterwards, I got some lululemons for exercising (my mom signed me up to the local gym, she said I wasn't active enough...).  I also got an angry birds stuffed animal, the yellow triangle dude.  I have the red bird, pretty soon I'm gonna be able to play angry birds in real life!  My sister just about bought the entire mall (or it seems that way).  She got a lot of gift cards for her birthday, so she used those.  I watched part of Inception again last night, it's just such a good movie.  Anyways, now onto today's post:  I have a lot of work!!! We got an essay in English today, I have to write about year-round schooling (who thought of this idea and where is he?).  We are also doing an ISP in English, I'm reading Room by Emma Donoghue (so far so good).  I also have a science project, with easy questions, but there is a lot of them.  And the usual, physics questions and art sketchbook (this week we have to draw a living creature made of pencils). Oh, and I also have an art test tomorrow.  It's just all to much.  How's a girl to live?  Some good news is that I got a mini job, to wash some windows at my BFFLAAT's house.  Her mom is gonna pay us $80, each!  I can always use the cash!  My grandma is coming down for thanksgiving, she doesn't come down often because it is hard for my granddad to travel.  I highly suggest reading The Hunger Games, if of course, you haven't read them already.  Nah, even if you have, you should read them again.  It is a great series.  At first I was turned off because it's about this girl who has to fight to the death for entertainment to her government.  But it is not at all gory or anything, I really liked it.  You will too, I guarantee it :)
