I wished you the best of all this world could give

title from 'Jealous' by Labrinth

I realize it's been a while, and I've probably lost most of you because of my own lack of posts. But better late than never.
I can't believe it's 2016 already. December flew by and in just 2 weeks I'll be off to England for my term abroad. I'll be starting a new blog to use during the time I'm away. I want lots of people to be able to read about my travels but not be able to see everything I've posted over the last several years. Once I get that started, I'll write all about my worries and panics that I'm having right now about moving across the world for 4 months. Maybe I'll make myself a hashtag.
Not much else going on here. I was successful in my 2015 New Years resolution of writing and mailing a letter each week. My last letter was a letter I wrote to future 50 year-old me. I still haven't figured out how I'm going to mail that to myself... I haven't set a specific resolution for this year. I'd like to in general live more spontaneously (which will probably happen most while I'm abroad). I have a 5 year question journal that I fill out every day, so that will also be something that I'm doing this year (and the next 4 after that).
My brother currently has a friend over and is watching the new Sherlock special that aired yesterday. I haven't watched it yet because my parents and I are going to see it in theatres next week. I have to avoid tumblr until then because I really don't want anything to be spoiled. I've been watching Once Upon A Time this fall and had a pretty big plot line revealed on tumblr so I'm very cautious now about not having anything spoiled. (I kid you not as I was typing this out I heard my brother and his friend both go "Wait, what? Wait, WHAT?!" and I freaked out a bit).
Once I've got my new blog up and running, I'll post a link to it here. Then this blog will be silent for 4 months (not that it's been shouting or anything over the past year).

Relaxing night alone.
That sounds a lot more depressing reading it than it did in my head...

314. Anybody on tumblr you'd go on a date with?
Yeah, probably. I just don't know who they are.

315. Put your iTunes on shuffle. Give me the first 6 songs that pop up.
I'm doing this on my laptop, which has basically every song I've ever listened to on it, so this is bound to be wild.
1. Tchaikovsky: Symphony #5 In E Minor, Op. 64 - Andante by Yehudi Menuhin; Efrem Kurtz: Philharmonia Orchestra
2. Burning Ones by Jesus Culture
3. All I Ever Wanted (DJ Alex Extended Remix) by Basshunter
4. Sing Your Praises (Live) by Onething and Matt Gilman
5. Mercy by Casting Crowns
6. My Saviour God by Aaron Shust
I didn't think I had that much Christian music to get 66% Christian songs. But, there you have it.

A !#FFFFFF Christmas

I suppose I could take one of these depressingly-not-cold nights to write a blog post (my mother gives me looks when she checks my blog and there isn't a new post). I wish there was snow, to be completely honest. I miss needing to bundle up in scarves and gloves to go outside. And I can't believe I'm saying this, but I miss shovelling snow. It was always a time that I could exercise, enjoy the outdoors and have quiet time to myself, all in one. So I'm a little disappointed there's no snow and it's been weeks since the temperature dropped below zero.
I was thinking that we shouldn't call it Christmas Day, but rather Christmas Hour(s). Because there's the Christmas celebration in the morning, but then the rest of the day is just any other day off (except for Christmas dinner). My grandma is visiting and we had my aunt and cousins over for a few days. It was god to be able to see them again, even if I didn't hang out with them that much :/ We had the classic turkey dinner with all the side dishes. My favourite is always the stuffing. My dad has started making the stuffing outside the turkey and while he thought he would never admit it, he likes it better that way. In no small part because now you can make so much more stuffing, which is good news for me :) Eating recently has been a bit of a struggle because I got my wisdom teeth out a week ago. I'm no longer in any pain, but I can't open my mouth all the way. Which I only notice when I'm eating, which has caused me to dwell on how I use my mouth. I never really thought that I took particularly large bites, but evidently I do. Nevertheless, eating takes me a while (bad news for securing seconds and thirds). There has also been an abundance of baked goods around which is bad news for my waist line.
The one big notable gift I got this year is a drawing tablet, which I've been wanting for a while. It let's me doodle and draw and have it show up on the computer (I thought this was common knowledge, but everyone I've told about it has asked me what it does). I also got a lot of tea and tea related merchandise. I asked for a temperature set kettle, and I got one, which I'm so happy about. My dad doesn't understand this, but if you make some teas with boiling water, you can burn the tea and give it a bitter taste. To prevent this, I usually wait for a while after the kettle boils before making my tea. But now, with my temperature set kettle (I don't know if that's what it's actually called, it's just a term I came up with) I can make my tea right away. My brother got me a earl grey tea sampler from The Tea Haus. Now, when I think sample, I think enough to make one or two cups. The box was a decent size, so I was expecting 10 or 12 different samples. Instead, it was 4 full sized bags of loose leaf tea. Like the bags that DavidsTea comes in, packed full. It's a lot of tea. I've only tried one so far, but I really like it. My sister got me a tea steeper that looks like a little man chilling on the edge of your mug. It's pretty cute.
I really want to see the movie The Imitation Game. My parents have also expressed an interest in seeing it, so I have high hopes that I'll be able to convince them to go see it in the near future. This evening we watched Grand Budapest Hotel. If I had to give a quote to promote the movie, I would choose "Visually intriguing". It was not what I expected (mind you, I didn't know much about the movie going in). The cinematography was very different that most movies today are; kind of indie? It actually kind of reminds me of 500 Days of Summer in that way. Not really what I was expecting, visually different than the status quo and generally a good movie (in my opinion, at least).
I just finished reading We Were Liars by E. Lockhart and wow. What. An. Ending. I think I mentioned it in an earlier post and gave the book description, which ends with "And if anyone ask you how it ends, just LIE." That was what got me interested in the book in the first place. And it lived up to it. The beginning of the book was a little slow, but worth it for the ending. (And no, I won't tell you the ending). Now I want to try and read one more book before the end of the year to complete my goal of reading 20 books this year. Something I want to do in the new year is read more often. Because this past year, reading was put on a back burner to school and surfing the internet. Less tumblr, more reading. And creativity. I was given some art inspiration for Christmas, and I want to make a real effort to try and be creative more often. I may also steal J's idea of getting rid of something everyday. It probably won't be everyday, and being away at university will make it hard, but I want to make a real effort to get rid of things I don't need. Because Lord knows I have way too much stuff. Kijiji, here I come.
I have a ton more stuff I want to write about (like Elliott's birthday party, Boxing Day shopping, how the break is almost over, and saying "saucy" in a British accent to my Grandma), but I want to go to bed before the sun comes up, so I'll draw this to a close.

293. What was the last movie you watched?
The Grand Budapest Hotel

294. Favourite day of the year?
Christmas is one of them. But birthdays are also nice because their your own special day, and nobody else's.

295. Are you too shy to ask someone out?
You betcha,

296. Can you do a headstand (not using the wall)?
Is the pope atheist? (Hint: the answer is no).

297. Hugs or kisses?
Hugs. And then if I decide I like you, kisses.

In case you were wondering (which I know you are), #FFFFFF is the colour code for white, and "!" represents "opposite" or "not" in computer programming.

Black Friday

I have plans to go shopping today. However, despite the mass advertising, I forgot that today is Black Friday. This will be interesting.

278. Why I joined tumblr.
My high school friend was on it and it looked cool. I wanted to see more stuff about Sherlock.

279. What's your favourite number?
7

280. (Ask me anything)
You guys get to come up with a question! Ask away!

Homecooked Meals For the Win

I feel bad for the students who are living off fast food and premade frozen meals because I just had a PC indian butter chicken frozen meal.

And.
It.
Sucked.

I was supposed to have spaghetti and meatballs, but I forgot to take the sauce out of the freezer, so I had this frozen dinner that I only bought cause it was on sale. And how badly I would have preferred the spaghetti and meatballs, you'll never know.
This weekend has been incredibly unproductive in terms of school work. Although I have made big progress on my various study abroad forms. I've decided that my first choice school is the University of Leeds. I'm really excited, now that most of the stress of all the forms is mostly out of the way. Also, I can't get over how fast time is moving. Like, another week is gone already. Each day comes and is it's own, but then BAM it's the weekend again and I'm just over here like damn where did the time go. And I keep looking at my list of things that I need to do and how I'm ignoring every single one of them. I'm pretty sure at about 8pm tonight I'll suddenly get this panic and I'll work till midnight (hopefully. I'm kind of banking on that happening so that today isn't completely unproductive).

275. Something that's worrying me right now
(LOL) Um, my lack of productiveness this weekend.

276. tumblr friends
No one.

277. Description of my best friend.
- funny
- beautiful
- caring
- loving
- creative
- giving
- supportive
- loves me for me
- honest

- genuine
- my RDJ-loving partner
- there for me
- encouraging
- imaginative
- ambitious
- friendly

Welcome to the World of Procrastination!

Welcome to the World of Procrastination! Here, you will enjoy the motivation to do anything but the the thing you need to be doing. And all without any guilt*! Watch as all the little tasks you've been avoiding for weeks finally get done as you avoid the more important tasks at hand. After you've enjoyed your time here, we suggest you go visit Cramming City, where they will provide you with the mindset to finally get stuff done! And once again, enjoy your visit in the World of Procrastination!
So yeah. I'm not really procrastinating (much) but I thought it would be funny to do a little blurb about it. And it got me thinking, if you procrastinate, but don't like seriously procrastinate, then you might actually be more productive than if you'd just done your work in the first place. I know this doesn't go for everyone, but if you procrastinate by doing other things that you've been avoiding, while not being such a big procrastinator that you leave yourself a decent amount of time to get the important things done, then clearly procrastinating is the way to get things done! This is totally me. But then you start procrastinating by going on Pinterest or tumblr, and let's be honest, once you've hit the Internet, there's no leaving, so you might as well just give up all hope of getting anything done.
I don't have much to do today, but it's all stuff I don't want to do. I have no idea what my TED talk is going to be about. It has to be about something in our "industry". Please, I don't even know what I want to do with my life yet. How will I know anything about my industry?

*this does not apply to everyone

270. Turn off.
- when people try to grow beards but they clearly do not have the ability to do so
- moustaches without beards (whether it be well grown or not)
- rudeness
- acting like he rules the world/he's the coolest

271. Where I want to be right now
At home. (I have been thinking about Christmas a lot over the past week. Like, a lot. A disturbing amount. I get 3 weeks off at Christmas and I'm super excited [47 days till I get to go home for Christmas!] Look, Google knows what I'm asking:
And all this thinking of Christmas and going home is making me miss home. Luckily I get to go home this coming weekend.)

Also, only nine (?!) days till I go to camp!

152. Are you hungry right now?
Surprisingly, no.

153. Do you like your tumblr friends more than your real friends?
No (I don't really have any tumblr friends?).

154. Facebook or Twitter?
Ummmmmm....twitter?

155. Twitter or tumblr?
tumblr all the way.

Happy April Fools!

Tumblr gave you the option to go tumblr PRO, which obviously I did. After watching a video, it gave your icon a little top hat. Once you became PRO, you could also see everyone else who was pro, because their icon would also have a top hat. It was pretty cute.
And it just so happens that it lined up perfectly to make it look like I was wearing the hat. :)
Youtube made a video about how they control what becomes a viral video, and revealed what this year's memes are going to be. And Google announced that whoever could find the most Pokemon hiding around the world in Google Maps would be allowed to work at Google starting in September. Man, I love what websites do for April Fool's.
Oh, and the First Lady announced she's running for President 2016 (with Hilary Clinton as her VP).

Fridays Always Drag...

Today was a long day. There was Stratford of course (I'm so glad I only have to go back one more time then I'm done...until September at least). And then this evening I went to see a concert of all the UWaterloo A Capella groups preform. It was really good. I quite enjoy a cappella. More so when it's songs I know, because I can reference how close they are to coming to replicating the song. But it was all good. Also one of my newer friends was singing in it and she wanted me to see it, so I thought I would go and support her. Some songs they did were Bravado, Say Something, Let It Go (!!!) and a Michael Jackson song that I am currently forgetting. The show was over 2 hours though, so it was a but rough because I'd already been sitting all day. I've discovered that a good time to go on tumblr is when it's late, 1) because that's when everybody else is on and there's more stuff being posted and 2) I'm tired, so it doesn't take much to make me laugh really hard. And laughing is always fun :)

127. What do you say during awkward silences?
(after waiting to see if the other person/people will break the silence): Ok, well I'll see you later? (i.e. I try to get out of them)

128. Describe your dream girl/guy.
My dream guy would be taller than me*, broader build. Not necessarily muscular but strong, short hair. He would make me laugh, treat me like a lady, but not be afraid to goof off. Christian. Accept me for who I am, get along with my friends and family. Not a smoker (or any other drugs for that matter). Not a fan of alcohol. Likes to read, listen to (my) music, watch movies. Won't get jealous or angry when I fantasize about Benedict Cumberbatch. Wants to have kids. Is ok with staying in. Have similar financial views to me. Polite.
But might I just bring these back:

Oscars

So the Oscars were amazing! I'm going to give you some of my fave moments:
Honourable Mention: Pink preformed a tribute to The Wizard of Oz

Honourable Mention: Leonardo DiCaprio, who still doesn't have an Oscar.

Honourable Mention: Jennifer Lawrence fell (again), but this time she tried to catch herself...buy grabbing onto someone else

5. Lupita Nyong'o's acceptance speech was beautiful (it even made Benedict Cumberbatch, among others, cry).
is she not stunning

4. Idina Menzel preformed "Let It Go" live which was amazing (it went on to win Best Original Song)

3. John Green's tweet about Benedict Cumberbatch:

2. 12 Years A Slave won Best Picture

1. Benedict Cumberbatch, ladies and gentlemen, the man I have chosen to love:

and then he fricking did it again
I really loved Ellen's hosting as well. Which included ordering pizza and handing it out to people (can I be a pizza delivery person?!?!?!):

(from E!):
So here's what a giant celeb pizza party is like:
-12 Years a Slave star Chiwetel Ejiofor wanted an entire box.
-Brad Pitt passed out plates and napkins to the crowd, while Kevin Spacey took pizza to hand out in the cheaper seats.
-Julia Roberts shouted that she wanted cheese.
-Meryl Streep is wearing a white dress, but she did not care about stains. She wanted pizza and damn it, she was going to eat pizza. And that's why she's the best human.
-Jennifer Lawrence definitely got her hands on a slice, because duh. Girl loves her food.
-Ellen reminded the pizza guy that Kerry Washington is pregnant and that "she needs some." You all did see how fast the Scandal star's hand shot up when Ellen first asked if anyone wanted pizza, right?
-Leonardo DiCaprio declined the pizza, but that was probably because his stomach was in knots while he awaits his category.
-Jared Leto took a slice, but insisted to the camera that it was for his mom.
-Harrison Ford is way too seasoned to care about looking cool, eating oncamera and/or spilling, so he made sure to get some pizza.

And she took what is probably the best selfie ever:
She posted it to her twitter and wanted it to become the most retweeted tweet (to beat out Obama's record). It did, of course, and crashed twitter in the process.

tumblr is my favourite

Tumblr changed the period in their logo to a heart for Valentine's Day. And when you hovered over it, you got a little Valentine :)

And also these tweets:

tumblr

So tumblr had a Terms & Conditions thing pop yesterday. Now, as most of the population does, I usually just check off the box and continue on without reading. But having heard some things about this particular set of terms and conditions, I decided to read them. Obviously there was all the boring legal stuff, but then every so often, there would be these gems:

Completely legit. I was laughing so hard my don told me to be quiet cause quiet hours had started. Before being acquired by Yahoo!, tumblr didn't have rules and conditions. So you can tell right away that they weren't into this kind of stuff. But even now that they have to have them, they still manage to be themselves and basically be the best site ever.
So companies, if you want people to actually read your Terms & Conditions, add a little something special to them.

THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO KNOW (QOTD #58)

THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO KNOW HOW SHERLOCK FAKED HIS DEATH. AND. IT. IS. KILLING. ME. And the next episode comes out tomorrow and people will know even more and I will stILL BE SITTING HERE DYINGY BECAUSE I KNOW NOTHING. And since there are only three episodes I might as well say that I'm an entire season behind. There is no positive to my current situation. None, I tell you. Because I can't go on tumblr because tumblr should really be read "spoilers" because really what else do you find on there. Since I can't go on tumblr, I decided to go on Pinterest BUT THERE ARE PINERS PINNING TUMBLR POSTS WITH SPOILERS IN THEM OMG i'm done. i give up. theres no point anymore. i might as well go hide in my bedroom until i can go back to residence in which case I will watch the two episodes and then continue to hide in my room because my brain will shut down from all the feels and overwhelming awseomeness that is Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes. (Also, went to see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug today with my friend Croissant and it was so good and I love Benedict Cumberbatch even more because his voice. That man has no bounds.)

J, this ^ is a good example of being a part of a fandom. It truly is a love/hate relationship with a lot pining and wishing about things that can't be.

moving on, now that I have that off my chest...

Started rereading The Fault in Our Stars today. Seriously, you all need to read it. I was going to reread it in December, but I needed to meet my Goodreads reading goal (which I did reach, 45 books thank you very much) and Goodreads doesn't let a reread count towards your reading goal. I'm so excited for the movie!!!

58. Ever have a deja-vu feeling?
Not one that is particularly sticking out to me. When I try to think back to a deja-vu moment I might of had, I think of dreams. Not any specific dream, but just dreams in general. I don't know if that is because you could dream about a situation you were in or vice versa?

Happy New Year!

To ring in the new year, I thought it would be cool to create a 2013 in review. Because if I'm honest, it all feels like so long ago and I've probably forgotten half of it. So here is my 2013 in review:
